'hit-'은 '-를 치다/때리다'라는 표현입니다.

I hit the desk. 나는 책상을 쳤다.
'홈런을 치다'도 'hit a homerun'이라고 쓰입니다. 

'be hit'은 '치이다/맞다'라는 뜻으로 쓰입니다. 

A woman was hit by a ball. 여자가 공에 맞았다.
A homerun was hit three times at the game. 그 경기에서 홈런이 3번(three times) 나왔다.

The man was hit by a car and taken to the hospital. 그 남자는 차에 치였고 병원으로 이송됐다
